We’ve added a new feature that allows instructors to create private followup posts only visible to you and other instructors. We built this feature because we received feedback from instructors on needing to privately discuss how to best respond to students' questions. 

This can be a helpful feature in a class where you have a large teaching staff and need to collaborate on a student's response before making it public.

To create a private followup, first click within the text box just beneath the post that reads, "Compose a new followup discussion." Once you have written your followup post, choose your visibility setting to be 'everyone who sees this post' or 'Instructors only'. 

The private followup will only be visible to instructors in your class and will have a gray border to distinguish that it is a private post:
