Follow these instructions to enable LTI 1.3 launches in D2L Brightspace. 

LTI 1.3 Tool Registration


Navigate to Settings > Manage Extensibility.

From there, click the LTI Advantage tab, then select Register Tool.

Values for LTI configuration:


Name: Piazza

Domainprovided by Piazza; school-specific. Please contact integrations@piazza.com to get your school’s domain

LTI version: 1.3

Redirect URLs: https://piazza.com/lti/connect

OpenId Connect Login URL: provided by Piazza; school-specific. Please contact integrations@piazza.com to get your school’s value

Keyset URL: https://credentials.piazza.com/lti/jwk.json


Under Extensions, choose:

  • Names and Role Provisioning Services

Once the new LTI 1.3 tool is registered, copy the client ID value (visible when clicking on the tool) and send to integrations@piazza.com to associate the tool with your school or institution.

Please note: In addition to the client ID, we may request the following values in order to complete the integration:


Platform ID     

Authorize Redirect URL     

Public JWK URL or json file

OAuth token URL


Tool Deployment 

This can be performed from the Creation screen or the Edit Tool screen. 

First, click the New Deployment button. 

Select the LTI 1.3 Tool Registration that was created in the previous step in the Tool dropdown.

Extensions:

  • Names and Role Provisioning Services

Settings:

  • Org Unit Information

  • User Information

    • Name

    • Email

    • User Id

    • Username

    • Org Defined ID

  • Link Information

    • Title

    • Description

  • Classlist including users not known to tool

LTI 1.3 Link Creation 

Deployment level links

To create a deployment level link, go to View Deployments > View Links > New Link and add the link details. 


Then, Navigate to a course, and in a new or existing module,click Existing Activities > External Learning Tools and click on the LTI 1.3 link.


Course level links


After the LTI 1.3 Tool has been registered and the tool has been deployed and shared with the course, navigate to a course and either choose an existing or new module.

Click Existing Activities > External Learning Tools. Navigate to New LTI Link.

Title: Piazza

LTI URL: School ID, Provided by Piazza

Then, click Create and Insert.
